Calling All Independent Educational Consultants

When I was in art class as a kid, I remember painting the sun blue and the grass red. Luckily, I had a wonderful teacher named Ms. Fisher, who encouraged my creativity. The progressive school I attended in the 70s promoted independent thinking and play, and I became a passionate lifelong learner.

As a former teacher, I always strived to cultivate an atmosphere in my classroom where my students knew I valued asking the more beautiful questions than simply knowing the “right” answer. I wanted my students to feel free to think outside the box, take risks, and explore their own unique perspectives.

As a college consultant, I believe that the college application process can be an opportunity for high school students to explore all sides of themselves. By encouraging students to think creatively and critically about their experiences and values, we can help them not only get into college but also develop the skills and mindset. We can help guide them to become citizens who use their education to impact and transform.

As IEC’s we have a unique opportunity to harness the application process to raise good humans. We have the power to shape the future by empowering the next generation to think outside the box, take risks, and embrace their unique perspectives.

Calling all educators, parents, and IEC’s (Independent Educational Consultants) who want to play in the sandbox with me on the topic of Raising Good Humans!
